10 or 11 years were fruitful, says Fawad Alam

Fawad Alam, the legendary Test cricket, was sidelined from the national squad for over a decade but the man believes his 10 years were never wasted.

Despite not being in the international fold, he was not disheartened but instead preferred polishing his skills in the domestic circuit. He believes it is because of these 10 to 11 years in the domestic arena that he is able to implement for Pakistan Cricket.

I have so many records in domestic cricket. I am on second after Hanif Mohammad in most statistics. How can I say that the last 10 to 11 years of my life were wasted? Allah has given me so many records during this time and I should be grateful for that,”

“Being a Muslim, you should be thankful to Allah in all circumstances. If you take domestic cricket for the last 10 or 11 years, I am in the top 20 in the world. I think Allah has given me a lot, I have so many centuries and runs at such a high average in domestic cricket.

Unbelievably, the 35-year old has 40 centuries alongside 8 in 180 First-Class and 203 List-A games respectively. The pro batter enjoys 62 and 40 half-centuries in the respective formats.

His brilliant practices in the arena are why he has been inspiring the watchers, PCB management after his comeback in Pakistan Cricket.

Although, instantly after his comeback, the player was featured in the second Test vs England last year, where he failed to score any. Fawad, later on, shut the critics with bombastic batting with a pile of records. One cannot directly settle on the international field after missing it for over a decade.

Undoubtedly, he has gathered a million local and overseas fans because of his self-belief, belief in God, and patience. The 10 or 11 years long journey made him miss 88 Tests in between but he is grateful for having a long tenure as a platform to polish his skills.

Although the fans raised voice for Alam who straightaway invigorated the selectors in his early career, still was sidelined – But, none other than Misbah ul Haq observed his crafts.

Since his comeback, he has 4 away and home centuries to his name. It makes a total of five red-ball Test tons as the prime one came back in 2009 vs Sri Lanka. Alam now has centuries versus Sri Lanka, New Zealand, England, South Africa, and Zimbabwe.
