In 2017 summers, three guys from a working-class family traveled from Islamabad to Gujranwala to participate in the open cricket trials set by Lahore Qalandars, one of the renowned franchises of the Pakistan Super League (PSL).
Although the trio did not get a chance to enter the busy stadium, their dedication let them wait for hours. Finally, upon immense motivation, the decision to enter the stadium from one of the less-busy entrances broke an iron gate and mixed with the thousands of boys waiting for their turn.
Three of them did not experience hard-ball earlier. All quick in bowling inspired the lookouts with their seam with the tape-ball and cleared the initial round. But, one, being under the pressure of the family with no allowance to play, focus on studies, and work as a salesman, uplifted the watches most with the terrific bowling clearing the final round.
This guy was none other than the speedster Haris Rauf who bowled at a sharp speed of 92.3 mph during that round. He is the one who is applauded for his bowling across the globe today. Rauf had no experience of hardball earlier but practice makes a man perfect.
He could have made a few pennies being a salesman at a mobile shop with an IT degree to earn his bread and butter but without dedication in it, it was useless to work on it. Finally, Haris Rauf got a chance to represent Pakistan Super League’s renowned franchise, Lahore Qalandars in 2019 and his degree-conscious ecosystem is proud of him today. He delivered in a place where his interest was.
His parents were never satisfied that he would make out millions through cricket sticking to the fabricated lie that only Sifarish works in big systems/boards. The guy purely lets everyone believe in the merit system and opportunities are knocking his way.
Not only inspiring in open cricket tournaments and PSL, but he soon got the eyes of cricket giants Australians who made a call at him for the Big Bash League (BBL 2019). The speedster got all his hype from that season being the star of the Melbourne Stars getting in Dale Steyn’s shoes.
The former Indian cricketer, Aakash Chopra, shared an animated video on his social media that is loved by thousands. Sharing Rauf’s success journey, he spread a message to the guardians who do not let their child do what he/she wants, but force him./her to choose his career on behalf of their selection and choices. The message concludes that your child can be a star if he/she is given an opportunity to design own career.
