Ahmed Shehzad gets a leading role in KPL 2

Pakistani cricketer Ahmed Shehzad has been appointed as the skipper of Rawalakot Hawks for the second edition of the Kashmir Premier League (KPL 2). According to the news shared by the franchise, the discarded Pakistani cricketer will lead the team, all set to start the campaign against newly-introduced Jammu Janbaz in the league’s opener, scheduled for August 13th.

It must be noted that Hawks were led by Shahid Afridi in KPL’s 1st edition. The ex-captain will now combat his previous franchise, featuring Janbaz as the platinum player. He is also the brand ambassador of the tournament, and has also been placed among the six-member mentor panel.

Hawks, who won the inaugural edition of the KPL overpowering Muzaffarabad Tigers, tweeted that,

The wait is over! Here is Hawks Captain

Ahmed has been making headlines for the past two months. At first, he accused former bowling coach Waqar Younis of destroying his career. Secondly, he was spotted in an interview with Shahid Afridi. The Boom Boom asked him to focus on scoring runs, to which Ahmed responded if he should make runs at home.

As far as KPL 2 is concerned, it will be played in Muzaffarabad from August 13th to 26th. The first version saw six teams participating, but with the addition of Janbaz, it will now be a seven-team contest. The teams are named Bagh Stallions, Kotli Lions, Mirpur Royals, Overseas Warriors, Muzaffarabad Tigers, Jammu Janbaz, and Rawalakot Hawks.
