Prominent umpire Aleem Dar, hailing from Pakistan, has voiced his opinion on the best modern-day captain for Pakistan, selecting wicketkeeper-batsman Sarfaraz Ahmed for the coveted title. During an appearance on ARY News’ show Bouncer, Dar was asked to identify the finest Pakistan captain throughout his extensive umpiring career. In response, he recognized the contributions of Shahid Afridi, Misbah-ul-Haq, Mohammad Hafeez, Sarfaraz Ahmed, and Babar Azam, but ultimately concluded that Sarfaraz possessed an edge over the others due to his astute decision-making abilities.

Dar emphasized that each captain possessed unique qualities, but Sarfaraz stood out due to his superior game awareness and captaincy skills. According to Dar, a wicketkeeper possesses greater decision-making acumen as they possess a deeper understanding of the bowler’s deliveries, making it crucial for a wicketkeeper to also assume the captaincy role.

Expanding on his perspective, Aleem Dar offered his assessment of Babar Azam’s captaincy, acknowledging his impressive performances. However, Dar emphasized that individual brilliance and captaincy skills alone are insufficient if there is a lack of teamwork. In Dar’s view, the most crucial aspect is the overall performance of the team.

It is worth noting that Sarfaraz Ahmed is widely regarded as one of Pakistan’s most successful captains. Under his leadership, Pakistan secured a momentous victory in the ICC Champions Trophy 2017. Additionally, Sarfaraz led the team to an impressive streak of 11 consecutive T20I series victories during his tenure, showcasing his ability to guide the team to consistent success.

Aleem Dar’s perspective on Sarfaraz Ahmed’s captaincy provides valuable insights into the qualities that make a successful leader in cricket. Sarfaraz’s ability to make shrewd decisions on the field, coupled with his understanding of the game as a wicketkeeper, set him apart from his peers. As Babar Azam continues to develop his captaincy skills, the importance of fostering a cohesive team dynamic will remain a crucial aspect of his leadership journey.
