Amazons triumph over Super Women in Women's League exhibition match

In the second exhibition match of the Women’s League held at the Pindi Cricket Stadium in Rawalpindi on Friday, Amazons defeated Super Women by 41 runs. The Amazons won the toss and decided to bat first, finishing their innings with a score of 204-3 in 20 overs. Opener Danni Wyatt played a fantastic innings, smashing 97 runs in just 45 balls, including 17 fours and three sixes. Captain Bismah Maroof also contributed to the team’s score with a solid knock of 73 runs in 51 balls, including 11 boundaries. Wyatt and Maroof put up a partnership of 137 runs for the second wicket.

For Super Women, Tuba Hassan claimed figures of 2-34 in four overs. In their chase of the formidable target set by Amazons, Super Women were only able to reach 163-9 in 20 overs. Lauren Winfield-Hill was the top scorer for Super Women with 80 runs in 42 balls, including 11 fours and three sixes. For Amazons, Anam Amin was the standout bowler, taking four wickets for 17 runs in four overs. Fatima Sana also contributed with two wickets.

The Amazons team comprised of players from Ireland, England, and Australia, including Laura Delany, Lauren Winfield-Hill, Maia Bouchier, Tammy Beaumont, and Tess Flintoff. Bismah Maroof led the team as the skipper. Meanwhile, the Super Women team was led by Nida Dar and included players from Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, South Africa, and New Zealand, such as Chamari Athapaththu, Danni Wyatt, Jahanara Alam, Laura Wolvaardt, and Lea Tahuhu.

The Women’s League exhibition matches provide a great opportunity for local players to learn from foreign players and showcase their talent. In the first match held at the same venue on Wednesday, Super Women defeated Amazons by eight wickets. The exhibition matches offer an excellent platform for emerging players to exhibit their abilities. Amazons’ captain Bismah Maroof expressed her delight in leading the team in the three exhibition matches, while Super Women captain Nida Dar shared her excitement in leading a talented group of players.
