Khushdil Shah, a batsman for Multan Sultans, has been fined 10 percent of his match fee for violating the PSL Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Personnel during a Pakistan Super League (PSL) match. The incident occurred during the team’s game against Peshawar Zalmi at the Pindi Cricket Stadium on Friday.
According to the PCB’s press release, Khushdil was charged with violating Article 2.4, which states that a player must not disobey an umpire’s instruction during the match. During the 15th over of Multan Sultans’ batting, Khushdil twice asked the umpires to check the ball, resulting in the charge being levied by on-field umpires Ahsan Raza and Martin Saggers.
Khushdil pleaded guilty to the charge and accepted the sanctions proposed by the match referee, Muhammad Javed. As a result, there was no need for a formal hearing.
Who else was fined for breaching code of conduct?
In addition to Khushdil, the PCB has also fined several other players for breaching the code of conduct during PSL matches. Islamabad United’s captain Shadab Khan, pacer Fazalhaq Farooqi, and Multan Sultans’ batters Tim David and Shan Masood were all fined 10 percent of their match fees for breaching a Level 1 offence of the PSL Code of Conduct in separate incidents during matches.
Farooqi was fined for using abusive language after dismissing a batter during Islamabad’s match against Lahore Qalandars in the 26th fixture of the PSL 8 at the Pindi Cricket Stadium on Thursday evening.
Meanwhile, Shadab Khan and Masood and David were found to have violated Article 2.8 of the PSL Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Personnel, which relates to showing dissent at an Umpire’s decision during a match.
All players accepted the sanctions proposed by the match referees, and there was no need for a formal hearing in any of these cases.
