Ashok Dinda retired from all forms of cricket

Ashok Dinda, a right-arm Fast-medium bowler, have announced retirement from all forms of professional cricket.

The 36-year-old have represented team India across 13 One Day Internationals and 9 Twenty20 Internationals. He has picked up 29 wickets across both formats. In ODIs, he picked up 12 wickets at an average of 51. His T20I record is still better, picking up 17 wickets at an average of 14.41.

For his domestic record, Ashok Dinda has been one of India’s prolific bowler. He has picked up 722 in his fifteen years long career. Out of those 722 domestic wickets, he picked up 420 in First-Class cricket at an average of 28. In List A and Twenty20s, he has picked 151 wickets each. He averaged 28 in LA and 25 in Twenty20.

In the Indian Premier League (IPL), Ashok Dinda played for the Delhi Daredevils, the Pune Warriors, the Kolkata Knight Riders, the Royal Challengers Bangalore and more recently, the Rising Pune Supergiants. He combined picked up 69 wickets in 78 games at an economy rate of 8.20.

Ashok Dinda announced his retirement during a media interaction in Eden Gardens, Kolkata.

“Today, I am retiring from all formats of cricket. I have sent the mails to BCCI and GCA to this effect. There have been several people who have helped me throughout my career whom I would like to thank beginning with my parents.”

The bowler also thanked the former Indian captain and current BCCI present, Sourav Ganguly, who gave him his debut cap against Maharashtra at Pune in the 2005-06 season

“It was because of him that I got to play for Bengal. I was not in the squad but he included me as a 16th member and handed me a debut.”

Ashok Dinda was thanked by the Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) for his contributions and he was presented with a silver plaque and a bouquet by the CAB president, Avishek Dalmiya, secretary Snehashis Ganguly and joint secretary Debabrata Das.
