Asia Cup 2022: India to stay in separate resort separate from other teams

The Board of Control of Cricket in India (BCCI) is continuing its tradition this Asia Cup to arrange a separate stay for team India. The men in blue will stay in a resort in the UAE, separately from all other teams. Where the rest of the five times, including Hong Kong, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, and Afghanistan, will be staying in a hotel, India will enjoy extra perks.

It is because Jay Shah, the secretary of BCCI, is the president of the Asian Cricket Council. And since ACC is responsible for carrying arrangements for Asia Cup, the men in blue’s stay at Palm Jumeirah Resort in Dubai is making rounds on the internet.

This is not the first time a thing like this has happened. Indian Cricket Team earlier stayed separate from other participants in the ICC T20 World Cup 2021. Although all the squads of the Indian Premier League (IPL) are gathered under one roof of a hotel, this move to separately stay the team in ACC or ICC events is not adored by many.

As far as their practice timing are concerned, Rohit Sharma and the men will train in the evening due to the excessively hot weather in Dubai. Their second session will take place after sunset. They will utilize all the practice on August 28th, opening their Asia Cup 2022 campaign against arch-rivals Pakistan.

This will be the first big event men in blue will play under Sharma’s leadership since his appointment as India’s all-formats skipper. He fulfilled Kohli’s captaincy spot in 2018 when India lifted the event’s trophy thrashing Bangladesh.

It must be noted that India are placed in Group A along with Pakistan and Qualifiers Hong Kong whereas Afghanistan, Sri Lanka, and Bangladesh are in Group B. The top two teams from each group will reach the Super 4 round, and the top two of the Super 4 will compete in the Asia Cup 2022 final.
