On account of the birth of his second daughter, Asif has been receiving warm welcomes from across the world. However, the pain of the first one must not be over yet.
The right-handed batsman’s 18 months old daughter, Noor Fatima passed away after fighting stage IV cancer in a hospital in the United States in May 2019. A day after his infant’s death, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) announced the 15-man squad including Asif for the ODI World Cup 2019 was announced.
Asif proved himself ‘instrumental’ in T20 World Cup 2021 and played crucial roles versus New Zealand and Afghanistan, helping Pakistan to qualify for the semi-finals. He was last seen on the field versus Australia at Lahore.
