The media manager of Cricket Australia (CA), Brian Murgatroyd has reached Pakistan on Sunday night ahead of the Pak vs Aus 2022 series scheduled to initiate from 4th March.
According to the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), Brian directly landed in Islamabad whereas, the rest of the team will be heading to their destination next weekend. Notably, Brian is set to undergo the mandatory isolation period.
The Pak vs Aus 2022 series will see two teams undergoing three red-ball encounters, as many ODIs, and the only T20I. The entire series will be played across three major venues of the cricket-loving nation; Karachi, Islamabad, and Lahore.
It must be noted that Australia Cricket Team is visiting Pakistan after 24 years. Their last visit was back in 1998 when Aussies won the three-match test series by 1-0 as two games got drawn between the participants.
The two teams last met in the ICC T20 World Cup 2021 semifinal. Despite Pakistan’s gigantic journey throughout the tournament, they were thrashed away by the Aussies in the semifinal and left the UAE with high heads but broken hearts.
The two cricket boards have also agreed that the Australia Test side will complete their isolation in Australia, before arriving in Islamabad on 27 February on a chartered flight. After one-day room isolation, they will hold training sessions at the Pindi Cricket Stadium.
The Tests will be part of the ICC World Test Championship, while the ODIs are linked to the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup Super League from which the top eight sides, including hosts India, will qualify directly for the 2023 50-over World Cup.
This is going to be a full-swing tour since all big names are set to visit Pakistan. It will play a crucial role in the revival of international cricket in Pakistan. Let’s review the Pak vs Aus 2022 schedule meanwhile.
