Azam Khan opens up on his selection in PSL 6

Azam Khan, son of the former wicketkeeping batsman, Moin Khan, is eager to mark his presence in the sixth edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL 6). Notably, he has been recalled by the Quetta Gladiators in the additional player replacement draft as many cricketers parted way with the extravaganza amidst the COVID surge and flight issues.

In the lastly held season of the PSL, Azam, despite his extra weight, inspired the watchers in a few innings with his bombastic knocks with the bat. People heaped praises on Moin’s son who visibly has maintained his body posture and weight.

Opening up on getting a call from QG, he uttered that the moment he saw his name, he was left in tears out of happiness crediting his mother’s prayer as the reason for his selection. Notably, he was not part of the squad in the five matches Gladiators’ have contested yet.

It is pertinent to mention here that the Purple Force lost four games out of five and will be looking for dazzling victories under the likes of Azam Khan and a few other potent players. The remainder of the season is to resume in Abu Dhabi from 9th May as the league has been dragged out of Pakistan due to health threats.

Azam disclosed that he was not expecting an early call this season terming the event as ‘elite’. He believes it is a consequence of his last year’s appealing innings.

“I was hopeful but was not expecting such an early call to the elite side. God Almighty has rewarded me for the hard work I did during the last year,” Azam said on Friday.

“My father advised me that I needed to work hard. I acted on his advice and worked extremely hard during the last year,” Azam said.

How Azam Khan came to know that he will play PSL 6?

While talking to media, he said,

“I was sitting for breakfast today when Nabeel told me that I had been selected in the Pakistan team. Initially, I did not believe it as I was thinking that he was joking. Later when I saw my name on social media literally I started weeping. I left breakfast and went to inform my father. It was an emotional scene like in the films,”
