Babar Azam gives savage reply to journalist

Babar Azam gives befitting reply to journalist

Since the evolution of T20 and franchise cricket and its penetration deeply in the game, we have seen many players showing their interest in the newly-formed format and retiring from Test or ODI cricket. With an immense dedication toward shortest-format and franchise cricket, the cricketers are able to generate enough money as well.

Considering the context, a local journalist queried Pakistan men’s cricket team’s skipper Babar Azam if the Big three of Pakistan, Babar himself, Shaheen Shah Afridi, and Mohammad Rizwan, will limit themselves to limited-over formats. Showing his dedication towards all three and hinting at his plan of playing all formats for long, Azam backlashed if the players are aged to restrict to a specific format.

It was asked that,

“You, Rizwan, and Shaheen are the stars, pride of Pakistan cricket. Like we lost the second Test against Sri Lanka, kya aap ko nahi lagta ki workload aap logo pe zyada hai? (Don’t you think the players were depressed, the workload was more?) So won’t it be a good idea if you people play only two formats?”

Clarifying that he and other Pakistani players are fit enough to play all formats, he stated that,

“It depends on your fitness. Abhi jis tarha hamari fitness hai, abhi aisa socha nahi hai ki hum do format mein aa jaye. Aapko kya lagta hai main budha ho gaya hu? ya hum budhe ho gaye hai? (The kind of fitness that we have, I don’t think we should limit ourselves to two formats. Do you think I have become old?)”

While mentioning the workload, the captain narrated the players are ready to boost their fitness levels to manage the excess workload.

“I don’t think so. Agar load zyada hai toh us hisab se fitness badhayange hum (If the load is more then we will increase our fitness levels)

It must be noted the conference took place ahead of Pakistan vs Netherlands three-match ODI series starting on August 16th. After winding up the ODI series, the men in green will head toward the UAE for the Asia Cup 2022.
