Babar Azam happy with his form, yet disappointed

Babar Azam, the skipper of Peshawar Zalmi, has expressed disappointment with his individual performance in the Pakistan Super League (PSL 8), which was not enough to lead his team to the final. Although he had a good campaign individually, he stated that it would have been better if his performances had helped his team win. He appreciated the different conditions and exhilarating matches of the tournament.

In a post-match press conference, Babar Azam shared his thoughts on the tournament, saying, “It was a good journey, but unfortunately, we couldn’t finish. We didn’t perform as well as we should have but made a comeback in the second half, and everyone tried to learn and gave their 100 percent.” He emphasized the importance of sharing experience and giving confidence to youngsters as a captain.

Reflecting on the second eliminator, Babar Azam felt that losing wickets in the middle and inaccurate bowling plans were the reasons for their defeat. He also mentioned that the Lahore bowlers bowled according to the field and situation, which helped them restrict Peshawar Zalmi to a score of 170.

Babar Azam emphasized the importance of younger players like Mohammad Haris and Saim Ayub playing in different situations and building their game. He praised the performance of his team’s youngsters and credited them for developing the trait of performing in different scenarios throughout the tournament.

Babar Azam concluded by saying, “Happy with the form but disappointed that it didn’t help the team win. I will look back and see what I can do better.” Meanwhile, Lahore Qalandars made it to the final of the PSL for the third time in the last four years and will face Multan Sultans again this season.
