Babar Azam Nominated for ICC Player of the Month Alongside Brook and Head

Pakistan’s cricket captain Babar Azam has been nominated for the ICC Player of the Month award, alongside Harry Brook of England and Travis Head of Australia. The ICC announced the nominees on Thursday.

Brook had a standout December, scoring 468 runs at an impressive average of 93.60 across three wins for England. He notched up centuries in all three of these wins and finished the month with an impressive tally of runs.

Meanwhile, Head performed well for Australia in their four December Test matches. He finished with 455 runs at an average of 91, as well as two wickets in their first Test win against the West Indies.

Babar Azam also had a strong month, with the ICC praising his consistency with the bat and his ability to perform well even while carrying the burden of captaincy. He made runs in all four of the Tests he played in December, scoring a pair of centuries and three scores of the fifties in eight innings. For the series against England, he finished with 348 runs at 58, and for the month overall, he had 523 runs at 65.37.

The month began well for Babar, with a score of 136 on the third day of the first Test in Rawalpindi. He hit 19 fours and a six to help his team to 579. He then went on to make three fifties in four innings across the second and third Test matches in Multan and Karachi.

Babar returned to Karachi for the first Test against New Zealand, where he had a strong outing in the first innings, scoring 161 in a six-hour stay. He struck 15 fours and a six in the knock and added another 14 in the second innings to finish the month with impressive numbers.
