Babar Azam's struggles continue in Asia Cup 2022

Pakistani skipper Babar Azam has been facing a stroke of bad luck in the ongoing Asia Cup 2022 as he is yet to astonish the masses with his batting. The right-handed batter struggled in the team’s Group Stage stint in both matches against India and Hong Kong and later mismanaged in two Super 4 encounters yet battled.

The men in green played their first Super 4 match versus India, and Babar departed on 14 coming off 10 balls, whereas, in the ongoing encounter versus Afghanistan, the skipper had to go on a duck. It is now to see if the batter will bounce back in the team’s remaining two Super 4 matches or will his run drought continue in the entire event.

Following his failure to score runs in the last some matches, Azam has been dropped to the second spot in ICC T20I rankings for batsmen updated today. Whereas his counterpart Mohammad Rizwan has achieved the World’s number 1 T20 batter position following his excellency throughout the Asia Cup so far. Rizwan has gathered 192 runs from 3 matches (excluding Pak vs Afg) and leads the run chart.

Azam’s last four T20I scores are 0, 14, 9, and 10. The fans sarcastically believe it is the curse of shaking hands with Virat Kohli that let the two players exchange their forms. Kohli, who was suffering the worst-ever phase of his life, is the third-highest run-getter in Asia Cup 2022 till now, scoring 154 from four games at an average of 51.33.
