Bangladesh have clean swept the second string West Indies side by 3-0 and are now second place in the ongoing ICC World Cup Super League.

The inexperienced West Indies line-up, playing their first ICC WC Super League, managed just 177 in the final ODI when they were chasing Bangladesh’s 297. They lost the match by 120 runs.

Again, it was the right-hand Rovman Powell, who managed to score most of the runs. He scored 28 and 41 across two games before scoring 47. He ended the series as West Indies’ top run-scorer with 116 runs at an average of 38. He was also the second-highest run-scorer in the series.

As for Bangladesh, they were supported by a triplet scores of 64; by Tamim Iqbal, Mushfiqur Rahim and Mahmudullah. They piled up 297 in their fifty overs before their bowlers, as they did throughout the series, did the job with the ball to dismiss the opposition.

Tamim Iqbal, Bangladesh captain, has been excellent in particular with the bat. The leading run-scorer of the series scored 158 runs at an average of 52 with two half-centuries.

As for the bowlers, Mehedy Hasan ended up as the leading wicket-taker for his side. He picked up with seven wickets at an average of just 10.

Bangladesh clean sweep the series 3-0. They will now play two Test series against West Indies for World Test Championship.

Bangladesh moves to second in ICC World Cup Super League

Bangladesh and West Indies were playing their first ICC World Cup Super League. As the points table stats, 10 points for win and none for loss, Bangladesh gained all 30 points to place second in the league. The table is led by Australia with 60 points while third place is England with 30 points.

Note: Sri Lanka, New Zealand, South Africa and Netherlands are yet to play any ODI series related to ICC Super League

The hosts India and top seven teams from the table will qualify for the 2023 ICC Cricket World Cup while the bottom five will play the ICC Cricket World Cup Qualifier.
