Usman Khwaja’s bat clearly edged the ball and despite the fact, he was given not out. The bowler Andrew Tie was disappointed of the on-field umpire’s blunder after the howling DRS but could not do anything other than disbelieving yet shaking his head.

The umpire on-field, Simon Lightbody was appealed by Andrew but as he turned the bowler down, the incident went viral as the decision was clearly a thunder with the ball edging the batsman’s bat.

For years, the spectators are asking for the DRS technology to get used in the T20 league but as the financial crisis has hit Cricket Australia hard during the pandemic, CA has restricted introducing it. Hence, the on-field umpires continue to make decisions resulting in howls.

The incident took place in the sixth over of the Thunders’ run chase and the Scorchers celebrated passionately. Simon Lightbody was the only person on the field who did not hear the ball edging with the bat’s sound.
