The Board of Control of Cricket in India (BCCI) has been under the hot waters from the minute it decided to sack Virat Kohli as the ODI skipper. Notably, before the ICC T20 World Cup 2021 progressed, Kohli informed the board and the public that the extravaganza will be his last task as the T20I captain to ease his burden, and glorify his time with family.
However, he wished to lead the men in blue in the 50-over format. The statements from the BCCI turned out as an alarming sign indicating that the officials will take the regarding decision before the South Africa series. Two days ago, BCCI has named Rohit Sharma as the new captain for ODIs.
Sourav Ganguly, the president of the board, while breaking his silence on the synopsis, said the selectors did not want two separate captains for two formats, hence decided to hand over things to Sharma single-handedly. The devotees feel too much for Kohli and say it is a lack of respect despite years of leading and making team India a world-class cricket brand.
Despite all the drama, Kohli will continue to lead the side in the red-ball format. People say the board owns respect to Kohli and at least, should have given a goodbye ODI series to Kohli as the captain. In concluding, to bid farewell to the T20I captaincy was his own choice, whereas, for that of ODI was not.
Sharma, the new skipper for the limited-over series, has kick-started his tenure in a 20-over format already and will take on South Africa in a three-match ODI series in January as his first ODI assignment as the captain.

Dear @BCCI – You are not god . The contribution of @imVkohli to indian cricket is immense. The way he lead the team with fire is something you should be very thankful for.
Its never too late – Thank him now for his role as the captain .

Hold no brief for @imVkohli as ODI captain. #RohitSharma credentials excellent. With Kohli giving up T20 captaincy, logical to split red & white ball responsibilities. Lamentable is #BCCI’s lack of respect for player who has contributed enormously. What message is being sent out?

India will win all ICC titles now because the man responsible for preventing them has been removed ss captain ? Unsubstantiated source based rubbish stories will now target @imVkohli ? Virat is not flawless but he has made a huge impact on world cricket. Respect him for that ?
