Boastful record for Rashid Khan in T20I cricket

Big record for Rashid Khan in T20I cricket

Rashid Khan, Afghanistan’s spin-whiz, has joined the elite list of bowlers owning a century of T20I wickets. He is the latest entrant in the 100 wickets club in men’s T20 internationals.

First from Afghanistan, and fourth from the world, Rashid achieved the milestone of gathering 100 T20I wickets against Pakistan in the Super 12 game of the T20 World Cup 2021 at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium. He dismissed Mohammad Hafeez and now enjoys 101 T20I wickets at an economy of 6.19 and an average of 12.2 as he later targetted Babar Azam.

None other than Tim Southee, Shakib Al Hasan, and Lasith Malinga had 100 T20I wickets before but Afghanistan’s bowler has always been a delight to watch out for.

The 23-year old leg-spinner made his debut back in 2015. Ironically, he is the fastest to the landmark in terms of matches, and time as well. He has taken only 53 T20Is and 6 years to do so whereas, Malinga did it in 76 games, and Southee, Al Hasan needed 84 matches for each.

Attaining the milestone has also made Rashid the youngest player to clutch 100 T20I wickets.

Despite Rashid’s attempting to win the second big game for Afghanistan, things slipped out of their hands after Asif Ali took the crease. He shattered Karim Janat for four sixes in the 19th over and curled up the third back-to-back win for Pakistan in the T20 World Cup 2021.
