Mumbai Indians have signed England pacer Chris Jordan as a replacement player for the remainder of the IPL 2023 season. While the identity of the player he replaces is yet to be confirmed, Jordan’s inclusion is expected to strengthen Mumbai’s struggling bowling unit in the absence of Jasprit Bumrah and Jhye Richardson.
Although the official confirmation is still pending, Jordan was recently spotted training in a Mumbai Indians jersey with the team members. Meanwhile, there is no update on the status of Jofra Archer’s injury. Earlier this week, reports emerged that Archer had undergone a minor procedure on his right elbow in Belgium. Despite playing against Punjab Kings after the procedure, he did not feature in Mumbai’s last game against Gujarat Titans.
On April 30, Mumbai Indians will host Rajasthan Royals at Wankhede Stadium in what will be the 1000th game in IPL history. The Rohit Sharma-led Mumbai Indians are currently ninth on the IPL Points Table and need some wins. Their senior batters, Rohit Sharma and Suryakumar Yadav, have not been in top form, while Ishan Kishan has struggled to get going and Tim David has been inconsistent. In terms of bowling, no one has stood out apart from Piyush Chawla.
The current second-placed Rajasthan Royals have a chance to claim the top spot with a win. Their talented young players Dhruv Jurel and Yashasvi Jaiswal are performing well, and Jos Buttler and Sanju Samson have the potential to make an impact. With impressive bowling performances from Ravichandran Ashwin and Sandeep Sharma, Rajasthan is confident of securing their sixth win of the season.
Mumbai Indians, the first IPL champions, are looking to turn their fortunes around and climb up the points table. However, they face a tough challenge against the in-form Rajasthan Royals, who will be aiming to cement their position at the top of the table.
