Cricket legends predict semifinalists of World Cup 2023

Legendary Sri Lanka spinner Muttiah Muralitharan and Indian batting great Virender Sehwag have shared their predictions for the semifinalists of the upcoming ICC World Cup. Both Muralitharan and Sehwag believe that India, Pakistan, Australia, and England will secure spots in the last four.

The ICC recently unveiled the schedule for the highly anticipated Cricket World Cup 2023. The tournament will feature 10 teams competing across 10 venues from October 5 to November 19. The Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad has been chosen to host both the opening match and the final.

The World Cup will follow a round-robin format, with each team playing against all others in a total of 45 league matches. The top four teams from the league stage will qualify for the semi-finals. The semi-final matches are scheduled to take place in Mumbai on November 15 and in Kolkata on November 16. Reserve days have also been allotted for the semi-finals and the final.

Geoff Allardice, the Chief Executive of the ICC, expressed his excitement about unveiling the schedule, recognizing the anticipation it generates among fans worldwide. He stated,

“Hundreds of millions of fans around the world will be part of what we hope will be the greatest ever Men’s Cricket World Cup, and we know in India the teams will enjoy a unique electric atmosphere, concluding with the winners lifting the trophy in the biggest cricket stadium in the world in Ahmedabad.”

BCCI Secretary Jay Shah expressed his pride in hosting the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup in various cities across India, showcasing the nation’s rich diversity. Shah emphasized the unparalleled fervor and passion for cricket in India.

He also highlighted the significance of the tournament’s return to India, the first time since 2011 when the Indian team triumphed on home soil. Shah extended his best wishes to all participating teams and eagerly anticipated another thrilling tournament.

As the excitement builds for the ICC World Cup 2023, fans eagerly await the showdown between the top cricketing nations, while players and officials prepare for a memorable and fiercely competitive event in the cricketing calendar.
