The CEO of the Cricket West Indies, Johnny Grave have cleared that the West Indies Cricket Team will be voyaging Pakistan as scheduled. He says that once it was committed, the oath now needs to be fulfilled despite the fact that New Zealand Cricket (NZC) and England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) called off their tours to Pakistan lately.
However, following the standard procedures, the CWI will take a decision after consulting with the players and West Indies Players Association (WIPA). He added that West Indies men and women have earlier played in Pakistan.
“We intend to fulfil the responsibilities of tours. Our men and women teams have played in Pakistan earlier,”
Grave revealed he called Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) CEO, Wasim Khan to summon what recently happened to green shirts’ cricket. Now, there will be another call any day this week among CWI several bodies to discuss their future tour plans.
“I had a call with Wasim Khan, the Pakistan CEO, (on Tuesday) morning, to find out everything that had happened during the past week, on the back of New Zealand abandoning their tour and England’s decision not to go there, and to suggest that we have another call later this week with our operational teams to discuss our women’s and men’s tours that are scheduled for later this year,”
West Indies last visit Pakistan in 2018 for a three-match T20I series in Karachi under the leadership of Jason Mohammed. It played a crucial role in the revival of international cricket in Pakistan. Now, the two teams are scheduled to play three ODIs and as many T20Is in Pakistan soon after the T20 World Cup 2021.
