Dale Steyn: PSL More Rewarding than IPL

Dale Steyn

Dale Steyn, South Africa’s legendary fast bowler who is representing Quetta Gladiators in the ongoing Pakistan Super League (PSL), has stated that the PSL is “more rewarding” than the IPL.

Dale Steyn believed that that cricket gets forgotten due to all the talk of money in the major league IPL which is why he decided against playing the last season as well as the upcoming season.

According to the fast bowler, he says that when they go to IPL, there are bigger squads filled with many big names and the amount of money players earn. He feels that cricket is being forgotten with players only talking about money.

However, on other leagues such as PSL or even Sri Lanka’s new league, the Lankan Premier League, he felt that people ask each other about the game situations in the tournament and it’s going for them.

“When you come to like a PSL or the Sri Lankan Premier League, for that matter, there is an importance on the cricket. I have only been here for a couple of days and I have had people in and out of my room, just wanting to know about where I have played and how I went about it.”

On IPL, however, he felt that they only talk about how much money they have been bought for, which makes Dale Steyn to stay away from such talks.

when I go to something like the IPL that gets forgotten and the main topic is how much money did you go for in this IPL? That’s just me being brutally honest. I wanted to stay away from that and really put more emphasis on playing and bringing good vibes to good cricket teams and tournaments I feel are worth it,” he added.

Dale Steyn quotes on Quetta Gladiator’s comeback in PSL

Meanwhile, he gave his comments on Quetta Gladiators, who are winless so far, and believes that they have the ability to make a comeback and compete in this PSL.

“I’m not too perturbed but it would have been nice to get over the line against Peshawar Zalmi. Played three, won one would have been really good for us.”

Dale Steyn is hopeful that they can make a comeback in the upcoming games.
