David Wiese, the veteran all-rounder of Lahore Qalandars, has expressed his support for Shaheen Shah Afridi to become the future captain of Pakistan’s national cricket team. Wiese believes that Shaheen, who is currently the captain of the Qalandars, possesses the necessary leadership skills to be successful at the international level.
Why David Wiese chooses Shaheen Afridi as future captain of Pakistan?
According to Wiese, Shaheen’s captaincy allows players to express themselves freely without feeling the need to hold back. Shaheen’s instincts for the game are excellent, and he tends to make the right calls most of the time.
The Qalandars’ players respond well to a captain like him, and he backs them 100 percent. In the last game against Multan, Shaheen even stepped up to bat at number six when the team was in trouble, which speaks volumes about his character and leadership abilities.
Wiese added that Shaheen has shown over the past two years that his leadership skills are unbelievable, and he keeps his players calm during tense situations. He is also tactically astute and has a level head on his shoulders. Wiese can see Shaheen captaining Pakistan in the coming years.
Currently, Babar Azam is the captain of the Pakistan cricket team in all formats of the game. Lahore Qalandars recently became the first team to qualify for the playoffs of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) by defeating Multan Sultans by 21 runs.
It is pertinent to mention that the PSL 8 final and closing ceremony will take place on March 19 in Lahore, which will also host the playoffs.
