Deadline for World Cup 2023 squad submission

Deadline for World Cup 2023 squad submission

The International Cricket Council (ICC) has decided to grant all participating teams in the ICC World Cup 2023 an additional one-week facility for squad changes, according to reliable sources on Saturday.

The deadline for the initial squad submission is set for August 29, requiring all teams to announce their squads by that date. However, recognizing the potential challenges arising from ongoing series or tournaments, the ICC has offered this relief to teams that may struggle to finalize their squads by the given deadline.

Once the initial squad is announced, teams will have the flexibility to make changes without seeking approval from the ICC Technical Committee for a period of one month.

It’s worth noting that the ICC’s Support Period will commence one week before the World Cup’s official start date.

Teams seeking to make changes to their squads after the Support Period will need to obtain approval from the ICC Technical Committee.

The much-anticipated World Cup is scheduled to commence on October 5, with the defending champions England facing the runner-ups New Zealand in an exciting opening match at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.

Throughout the tournament, ten teams will battle for the prestigious title across ten venues, culminating in the final match on November 19 at the Narendra Modi Stadium.

The group stage will witness 45 matches from October 5 to November 12, with six-day matches starting at 10:00 am Pakistan Standard Time (PST), while all other fixtures, including the knockouts, will be day-night matches starting at 01:30 pm (PST).

The top four teams from the group stage will advance to the semi-finals, with the first semi-final taking place between the first and fourth-ranked teams at the Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai, on November 15. The second semi-final will follow between the second and third-ranked teams at Eden Gardens, Kolkata, on November 16.

Finally, the ultimate showdown, the final of the mega event, will feature the winners of the semi-finals battling it out for glory at the Narendra Modi Stadium on November 19.
