Dhaka Premier League delayed further, when will it take place?

Dhaka Premier League, the premier club cricket List A competition in Bangladesh, is now delayed and scheduled to begin on 31st May. According to the Latest DPL News, the tournament is swapped to the twenty-20 version instead of ODI due to the time constraints by COVID.

Amidst multiple cancelations and COVID fear, the authorities have given up the idea of organizing the event in the 50-over format. Kazi Inam Ahmed, the chairman of the cricket committee of Dhaka said that the tournament will commence under strict COVID protocols.

“As decided earlier, it will be a T20 event. Considering the busy international schedule and the upcoming ICC T20 World Cup, we believe that T20 is the ideal format for the 2019-20 League. The BCB president (Nazmul Hassan) has given a clear direction on the importance of players’ safety during these times.

We know what this league means to the players and clubs and appreciate their support during the planning stage.”
