Each PSL franchise earned nearly 1 Billion PKR - Ramiz Raja

Hosting the seventh edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL 2022) in Pakistan despite the COVID threats alongside embracing the world cricket gurus with security assurance is itself a great success for the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB). The million-dollar efforts have paid the PCB and the PSL franchises the results they were anticipating financially.

Ramiz Raja, the PCB chairman who earlier talked about the renovation of financial models of Pakistan Cricket and its subsidiaries, looks in action in regards since all six PSL franchises have earned more than PKR 90 Million during the PSL 2022. Undeniably, it is a huge success since, over the last six years, the finances were not much hefty which often had triggered PCB vs PSL teams war.

Raja confirmed that the profit has jumped to 71% of what it has been during the last six PSL seasons. As quoted by Cricket Pakistan, the PCB chairman while talking on the scenario stated that,

“There is no doubt that the HBL Pakistan Super League 7 has been a phenomenal success and this is largely due to the fact that we had amazing crowds, both in Karachi and Lahore. In my professional career, I have never seen such charged up, overwhelming, enthusiastic, lively, and supportive crowds, particularly in Lahore”, 

“HBL PSL 7 profits jumped to 71 percent, the most in its history, with each franchise earning around PKR 900 million, again the most in HBL PSL’s history, and all before the first ball was even bowled. For next year, we aspire to take this league to the homes of all franchises and broaden its fan-reach”, he added.

The chairman, during his commentary in the HBL PSL 2022 final between Lahore Qalandars and Multan Sultans, confirmed the event will be hosted by several iconic venues across Pakistan including Quetta, Multan, Peshawar, and Rawalpindi. Notably, the recently coiled up season was summed up at Gadaffi stadium Lahore and National Stadium Karachi. The board is eying to make PSL a world-class brand.
