We are sorry, says ECB on cancelling Pakistan tour

Maybe they did not have an idea what the consequences can be! The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) has abandoned the Pakistan tour denying to send its men and women teams scheduled to play series just before the T20 World Cup. Their refusal has come in the enlightenment of the NZ tour cancellation leaving an everlasting adverse impact on Pakistan’s image, and revival of international cricket in the nation.

It took more than a decade to rebuild the image that was lost after third-party inclusion during the 2009 Sri Lanka tour. The bus Attack outside Gadaffi Stadium left Pakistan’s image disrupted to an extent that everyone rejected voyaging Pakistan terming it a terrorist country.

To bear such claims was not a piece of cake. In the last five years, PCB has successfully hosted World XI, international players in PSL, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, West Indies, Zimbabwe, and South Africa. Not only this, but PCB became the only board to conduct domestic season successfully with no interruption on the threat.

With cricket coming back to Pakistan, it was time to embrace the top teams as New Zealand, England, and Australia were respectively to tour Pakistan from 2021’s end to 2022’s beginning. But NZ tour cancellation, that too in the last minutes, has done immense justification. They could not even back to the nation that visited them during the COVID and Christchurch crisis.

ECB cancels Pakistan tour – NZC unjust decision pulls out every possible big blow to Pakistan Cricket:

With ECB themselves pulling back following non-existent and unclear security threats, it will now take a lot for Pakistan to once again revive cricket in the nation. Now, Cricket Australia (CA) is yet to on-screen their decision regarding the visit.

“We understand that this decision will be a significant disappointment to the PCB, who have worked tirelessly to host the return of international cricket in their country. Their support of English and Welsh cricket over the last two summers has been a huge demonstration of friendship.  We are sincerely sorry for the impact this will have on cricket in Pakistan and emphasise an ongoing commitment to our main touring plans there for 2022.”

Last year, Pakistan also visited England and now were anticipating English boys in the realm as gratitude, friendship, and give and take gesture. Ramiz Raja, the newly elected chairman of the board, is furious over the matter looking to drag it to the International Cricket Council (ICC). He says we can only compensate for becoming the powerful team among all.
