PSL 8 Replacement Draft Rescheduled for January 25th
The replacement draft for Pakistan Super League (PSL) season 8 was originally scheduled to take place on January 24th, however, due to a nationwide power outage on January 23rd, franchises requested an additional day to finalize their picks. As a result, the draft has been rescheduled for January 25th at 7 pm (PST).
Live Streaming the Replacement Draft
Fans will be able to tune in and watch the replacement draft live on PSL’s official YouTube channel at 7 pm (PST). This will be a great opportunity for fans to see which players will be joining their favorite teams for the upcoming season.
Team-wise Replacement
Each team will be making different replacements based on their specific needs. Lahore Qalandars will pick a permanent replacement for England’s Harry Brook, who will miss the entire edition due to national duty. Meanwhile, Qalandars will make partial replacements for Jordan Cox and Rashid Khan, who will miss the first three matches.
Similarly, Multan Sultans will pick a replacement for England’s Adil Rashid and also make partial replacements for David Miller (South Africa), Akeal Hussain (West Indies), and Tim David (Australia).
Islamabad United will make partial replacements for Alex Hales (England), Moeen Ali (England), Rahmanullah Garbaz (Afghanistan, and Fazalhaq Farooqui (Afghanistan).
2017 PSL champions, Peshawar Zalmi, will be looking to fill partial replacements for Mujeeb-ur-Rahman (Afghanistan) and Rovman Powell (West Indies). And Quetta Gladiators will also be looking to replace Waninidu Hasaranga (Sri Lanka), Jason Roy (England), and Odean Smith (West Indies) with new players.
Supplementary Category
In addition to replacing specific players, all the franchises will also have the opportunity to pick two players each in the supplementary category to complete their squads of 20. This will give teams the chance to add depth to their rosters and ensure they have a strong lineup for the upcoming season.
PSL 8 Schedule
The PSL 8 is set to begin on February 13th with the defending champions, Lahore Qalandars, taking on the 2021 champions, Multan Sultans, in the opening match at the Multan Cricket Stadium. This will be the first-ever opening ceremony at this venue, setting the tone for an exciting and competitive season ahead.
