The ODI World Cup 2023, scheduled to kick off in India on October 5th, has received a grand announcement through the official promo released by the International Cricket Council across various social media platforms.
The theme of the tournament, “All it takes one day,” is elegantly portrayed in a captivating 2-minute and 13-seconds video, featuring breathtaking moments from past World Cup tournaments. The narration is beautifully delivered by none other than the iconic Shahrukh Khan.
While the promo showcases a mesmerizing montage of historical cricket moments, there was an unexpected absence of Pakistan’s batting sensation and current top-ranked ODI batsman, Babar Azam. This exclusion raised eyebrows among fans and cricket enthusiasts, especially considering that Pakistan stands as the second-ranked ODI team according to ICC charts, but was scarcely featured in the video.
Shoaib Akhtar, the former Pakistani pace maestro renowned for his candid nature, expressed his dismay on Twitter. In a forthright tweet, he criticized the promo’s creators for overlooking Babar Azam, who undeniably ranks among the finest contemporary cricket batters.
Despite this omission, the promo did feature some iconic visuals, including the signature wicket celebration of Pakistan’s left-arm pacer Shaheen Shah Afridi from the World Cup 2019.
The promo reaches its crescendo with Bollywood superstar Shahrukh Khan holding the prestigious World Cup trophy, uttering the powerful words, “For everything ever dreamt for, pushed for, lived for, it takes, one day.”
With the buzz around the promo gaining momentum, cricket fans eagerly await the ODI World Cup 2023, anticipating thrilling moments and fierce competition among the world’s best cricketing nations. As the cricketing extravaganza approaches, the stage is set for history to be made, and for dreams to be realized on that one unforgettable day.
