
The heroics of Najibullah Zadran have taken Afghanistan Cricket Team to the second round of Asia Cup 2022, the Super fours, making them the first team to do so. Afghanistan, one of the three Group B teams, now have two out of two victories, being on the top of the points table with four points.
Opening Asia Cup 2022 against Sri Lanka, they thrashed away the hosts in both departs with their terrific bowling and batting, respectively. Mohammad Nabi’s decision to bowl turned out to be fruitful for them as they discarded all Sri Lankan batters on 105.
Fazalhaq Farooqi (3), the skipper (2), and Mujeeb (2) shared wickets among them, alongside Naveen Ul Haq getting one and the rest of the two becoming run out’s prey. Whilst chasing, Hazratullah Zazai and Rahmanullah Gurbaz’s contributions dragged them to win in 10.1 overs.
In the second encounter, whilst facing Bangladesh, Afghanistan were favoured by the opposition’s decision to bat first. Nabi’s bowlers took advantage and were able to pluck seven wickets; leg-spinner Rashid and Mujeeb shared six among them equally, whereas one wicket came off a run-out.
Although Afghanistan’s openers could not do much during Afg vs Ban, but middle order’s Najib clicked 43 from 17, clinching the win for them. All they are getting are well wishes, congrats from all across the world for becoming first team to qualify for Asia Cup 2022 super fours.
