Hasan Ali

Pakistan fast bowler Hasan Ali picked his second five-wicket haul in the ongoing second Test match between Pakistan and South Africa.

He picked 5-54 as he helped Pakistan bowled South Africa out for 201 and helped to gain a lead of 71. Hasan Ali picked up the wickets of Dean Elger and Rassie vd Dussen in successive balls, before he cleaned up the final wickets of George Linde, Keshav Maharaj and Anrich Nortje.

He picked his first Test five-wicket haul against New Zealand in 2018. The kiwis toured UAE for a three-match Test series. Hasan pick the five wickets in the second innings of first Test match. The match was supposed to be won by Pakistan, after they were 130-3 chasing 176. But Pakistan lost the match by 5 runs in a thrilling ganme.

Hasan Ali was dropped from Pakistan’s squad after the 2019 World Cup, where he played against India and returned the figures of 1-70. In fact, since the start of 2018, he was not the same bowler where the world has seen since his debut. His ODI record, where he was more successful, since 2018 was:

Innings: 25, Overs Bowled: 207.4, Maidens: 6, Runs Conceded: 1271, Wickets: 26, Average: 48.88, Economy: 6.12, SR: 47.9, 4/5-fer: 0/0, BBF: 3-32, Wickets per Innings: 1.04

People questioned his ability of being consistent in cricket. He played the Pakistan Super League (PSL) and did picked the wickets for his side, but was not that threatning as he was post 2019 season.

However, the fast bowler then returned to domestic cricket and performed brilliantly, where he picked 40 odd wickets at an average of under 23 and even led his team to a thrilling tie in Quaid-e-Azam Trophy final. He was the Man of the Match of the final as he scored a century as well.

Now with Hasan Ali making his return this series, he was not that successful in the first Test match, where he picked twin figures of 1-61 across innings. There were concerns whether Hasan will give the same performance in international level, but Hasan proved them wrong and showed that the “Generator of Pakistan” is back.
