The T20 World Cup 2021, originally scheduled to take place in India, is now moved to the UAE owing to the safety concerns posed by the COVID19. The virus had halted sports scenarios across the world over a year ago. With things getting back to normal, the sports still struggle with hosting issues. Despite the resumption of cricket across the globe, deciding on a venue is one of the critical stages of operational decisions to proceed with.

why India can no more host the T20 World Cup 2021?

India has been massively coping with COVID19 lately becoming one of the very few suffering countries. Analyzing the scenario, at first, the Board of Control of Cricket in India (BCCI), suspended the Indian Premier League (IPL 2021) unwillingly. Secondly, the nightmares of losing the hosting rights for the World’s event started haunting them.

There already were multiple speculations regarding India’s unability to host the event. Later, the International Cricket Council (ICC) announced a deadline for the BCCI to give the final health report within a few months so the decision for entertaining the event could progress ahead. However, getting no positive results from the Indian board’s end, the ICC had no option but to shift the T20 World Cup 2021 to the UAE.

UAE has been a center of cricket as those countries who fail to stage an event at their homegrounds, prefer the Arab nation as their priority. Latterly, we have seen a pile of tournaments, home series being played there with the UAE’s cricket calendar occupied till the year’s end.

As the mega event is to begin in October-November, the official of the BCCI says that,

“We will stage it there in the UAE after the conclusion of the Indian Premier League (IPL). We will inform the International Cricket Council soon,”

The statement clears that the world event will advance ahead after the BCCI will be down and dusted with the IPL 2021.
