Here is why Kane Williamson is fined INR 1.5 Million

Kane Williamson, the skipper of the Sun Risers Hyderabad (SRH) has been penalized INR 1.5 Million for maintaining a slow over-rate during the team’s opening match against Rajasthan Royals on Tuesday at Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium.

The Orange team lost the match by 61 runs versus Sanju Samson’s Royals, who become the first to successfully defend the target in the ongoing IPL 2022 yet. The RR set a hefty target of 211 for SRH to win from 120 balls. They added 210 with the loss of six wickets. However, Kane’s team’s seven men collapsed on 149, not even making 150, falling short of balls utilizing all overs.

The IPL, in a statement, stated,

“The Sunrisers Hyderabad have been fined after they maintained a slow over-rate during their IPL 2022 match against Rajasthan Royals at the Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium, Pune on March 29,”

“As it was the team’s first offence of the season under the IPL’s Code of Conduct relating to a minimum over-rate offences, Sunrisers Hyderabad captain Kane Williamson was fined Rs 12 lakhs,”

RR vs SRH was the fifth match of the IPL 2022. As a result of this match, the pink team now stands at the top of the IPL 2022 points table, however, SRH are placed at last following the disturbing defeat.
