There has always been ‘compare and contrast’ between the two big cricketers of modern-day cricket belonging from arch-rival countries, India and Pakistan. We see many questions and phrases posted by their fans. Some query if Babar Azam is better than Virat Kohli or Indian skipper has the key in hand. We also see people writing that Kohli’s era has come to an end following his downfall, and Babar is the new Goat in town.
Amidst all the chitchat, we recently saw the ice melting between two countries after the Pakistani skipper posted a good luck tweet for the rival skipper. What made the fans happier was Kohli’s reply to Babar’s tweet. However, there still is a mass not wanting to get out of the controversies.
Fans are often noticed arguing about Babar’s runs versus Zimbabwe. Most of it comes from the Indian fans, terming the rising cricketer ‘Zimbabar’, who thrashed away India by ten wickets in T20 World Cup 2021 match.
It was heard the Board of Control of Cricket in India (BCCI) is likely to name Kohli in the squad for the upcoming series against Zimbabwe, so the out-of-form Kohli can have a chance to score his 2-year-awaited 71st international century. Pakistani fans did not miss a chance either, and despite their immense support seen for Kohli over the last few months, they were seen posting ‘Zimrat’.
However, the BCCI was quick to note and eliminated Kohli from the Indian squad against Zimbabwe in the upcoming ODI series. Indian fans now have another reason to bash Babar after their all-time favourite cricketer is saved on rest mode.
While some say that Kohli does not want to play against Zimbabwe because it will hurt his legacy. The fans are happy to see Kohli eliminated, so their favourite star does not bounce back against the minnow team.
