IPL 2024 auction: List of retained, released, and traded players

As the cricketing world eagerly anticipates the IPL 2024 auction scheduled for December 19, the landscape of teams participating in the upcoming season has undergone notable changes. While the deadline for releasing and retaining players has concluded, teams still have until December 12 to finalize player trades between franchises.

A total of 174 players have been retained by various Indian Premier League teams, with strategic decisions shaping the compositions of squads for the forthcoming edition. Kolkata Knight Riders took the lead in releasing players, parting ways with the highest number among all teams. On the flip side, Punjab Kings, Sunrisers Hyderabad, and Chennai Super Kings opted to retain the maximum number of players, emphasizing their commitment to continuity and team cohesion.

The anticipation intensifies with the recent revelation that Hardik Pandya, the former captain of the Gujarat Titans, has been traded to Mumbai Indians in a groundbreaking move. This historic trade not only adds a new dynamic to the Mumbai Indians’ roster but also marks Pandya as the third IPL captain to be traded, creating buzz and speculation ahead of the auction.
