Is the era of Virat Kohli coming to an end?

virat kohli

Virat Kohli may find himself under scrutiny after the first Test loss against England led India to their first loss in their home since 2017.

This was Virat Kohli’s also fourth straight loss in Test cricket, after a series whitewashed in New Zealand in early 2020 and the first Test against Australia at the end of 2020. This loss against England also meant that they will require either by 3-1 or 2-1 to qualify for the World Test Championship final. A loss means that India will be out of the race for the World Test Championship final.

However, team India responded brilliantly as their all-rounder Ravichandran Ashwin scored a century and eight wickets as Indian won massively by 317 runs.

Virat Kohli may lose his captaincy, despite winning big over England

However, the experts are still little pessimist despite winning big over England. Another loss against the visitors will see India out of the race for the ICC World Test Championship.

Former England off-spinner Monty Panesar even marked his statements that Virat Kohli should be removed as the national team’s Test captain if he fails to lead them to victory.

“Virat will be under pressure. This is an important series for him. If he loses the another Test, I think he should give up his captaincy. Because India will be down 2-1 in the series, and they should change the captain. Virat desperately needs a win or a draw. If he doesn’t, it could be his last match as captain.”

Virat Kohli responded to all of the questions well as he scored 62 in the second innings in India’s 317 runs victory over England in the second Test match in Chennai.
