Jasprit Bumrah is not out of the World Cup yet, says Ganguly

India’s frontline pacer Jasprit Bumrah was ruled out of India vs South Africa series with a back injury. It was speculated that with the severity of his injury, he would miss the upcoming ICC T20 World Cup 2022 in Australia, which could have resulted in a huge setback for the men in blue. However, the President of the Board of Control of Cricket in India (BCCI), Sourav Ganguly, has turned all the rumours down.

Ganguly says the decision has not been taken yet, and Bumrah is not yet ruled out of the all-important event. According to Xtra time, the President has announced to reveal the decision in a day or two in regards. His statement reads,

“Bumrah is not out of the World Cup yet. The final decision will be taken in two to three days.”

Notably, the toe-crushed was also ruled out of the Asia Cup 2022 days before it started due to his injury. Missing several players, India failed to qualify for the playoffs and was kicked out after losing versus arch-rivals Pakistan in the Group Stage.

It must be noted that the bowler is currently being monitored by the medical team of the National Cricket Academy (NCA). He has been replaced by Mohammad Siraj in ongoing Ind vs SA series. As far as men in blue’s T20 World Cup 2022 journey is concerned, they are scheduled to fly to Australia on October 6th, and will kick-start the campaign against Pakistan on October 24th.
