New Zealand captain, Kane Williamson has been ruled out of the Eng vs NZ 2nd Test as a result of his elbow injury. He has been sustaining injury since first missing matches in March and could score only fourteen runs in Eng vs NZ 1st drawn out Test at Lord’s.
The coach of the Kiwis, Gary Stead confirmed that Williamson faces trouble with his irritated left elbow and will be benched in the deciding Test of the series that is to take place at Edgbaston from 3:00 PM PST on Thursday.
“It’s not an easy decision for Kane to have to miss a Test, but we think it’s the right one. He’s had an injection in his elbow to relieve the irritation he’s been experiencing when he bats and a period of rest and rehabilitation will help maximize his recovery.
In the absence of Williamson, the opening batsman, Tom Latham will fulfill his duty commanding the Black Caps versus Joe Root’s England. Notably, his vacancy at third will be fulfilled by Will Young who totaled 48 runs in his lastly played Test series versus West Indies.
