Lasith Malinga's IPL record broken, cricketer has something to say on it

Chennai Super Kings’ (CSK) Dwayne Bravo has broken Lasith Malinga’s IPL record in the team’s latest encounter versus Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) on 31st March in the ongoing season of the Indian Premier League (IPL 2022).

Malinga, till Bravo joined the feat, was the highest wicket-taker of the league, topping the chart with 170 wickets to his name in 122 matches. Bravo stood levelling the Sri Lankan bowler’s feat standing in CSK’s second match of the current season. However, on clutching his only wicket in the match, he surpassed the record, taking 122 matches to do so.

The West Indian bowler dismissed Deepak Hooda on just 13 runs coming from eight deliveries. He ended his spell as 4-0-35-1, being one of the three yellow bowlers who together managed four LSG scalps while defending their 210.

Malinga applauds Bravo – Lasith Malinga’s IPL record broken

Malinga took notice of Bravo breaking his IPL record and opened up terming him ‘Champion’ for the reason. The retired bowler took it to Twitter and wrote,

Bravo is a CHAMPION Congratulations on becoming the highest wicket-taker in IPL history mate @DJBravo47  More to go young man!

CSK, on Thursday, lost to newly induced Super Giants, who are one of the two new IPL teams – Gujarat Titans. Despite the high-scoring match, Ravindra Jadeja’s side ended on the losing terminal failing to defend the target. LSG’s batters, including the crucial contributions from Quinton De Kock, KL Rahul, and Evin Lewis, let them win their first game of the season after losing to Gujarat at first.

It must be noted it was CSK’s second consecutive defeat of the season as they lost the league’s opener versus KKR on 26th March. They will face Punjab Kings (PBKS) in the subsequent game on 3rd April, at Brabourne stadium.
