Match 10: Sarfaraz’s Wicket, Afridi’s expensive over and so much more

isl vs quett

Last night’s match offered so much more than just a game of cricket. Islamabad United and Quetta Gladiators clashed in what was a thrilling match and a lot happened on the field.

Quetta won the toss and that was the only thing they won in the match. Islamabad was forced to bat first and the team took whole advantage of that. Colin Munro, Stirling, Hales and most importantly Azam Khan, took the purple force by storm and there was no stopping them.

To Sarfaraz’s utmost nightmare, the players only talked in boundaries to lodge a score of 229 and a lot is to be blamed on the bowlers. Shahid Afridi who made a comeback in last night’s game bowled the most expensive spell of the PSL 7 tournament, giving 67 runs in four overs.

Though Colin Munro was the highest scorer, it was Azam Khan who was the star of the show. Khan was brutal against all bowlers especially the Quetta all-rounder and hit him all over the ground.

Quetta began their batting innings and Ahsan Ali gave them the desired start hitting 50 runs on just 27 balls. Quetta’s decline began when Ali lost his wicket. Except for Muhammad Nawaz, no other player stood out for the team. The United’s bowlers did not let the opposition finish the match and Sarfaraz’s men were all bowled out on 186.

One of the highlights of the game was Shadab’s four-wicket haul including the wicket of Sarfaraz. The two were seen engaged in a friendly banter before the match on how Shadab has never claimed the skipper’s wicket in PSL history. Even though, both hoped it stayed that way but fate had something else in store. Here is what Twitter is saying about the encounter last night
