Match 28: Karachi Kings and Quetta Gladiators seek to finish on a high

quetta kings last match

With the round-robin stage of the league drawing to a close, the matches are becoming more heated. Today, Karachi Kings and Quetta Gladiators will clash in what would be the last match in the group stage for the two teams and both would be looking to finish it off in style.

For Babar and his team, a loss or even a victory would not mean anything as the franchise has been eliminated from the tournament. They managed to win one out of nine matches which resulted in their early exit. While for Quetta, a win and that too a comprehensive one could land them a spot in play-offs given Islamabad also loses their match against Multan Sultans.

The two franchises also clashed in Karachi in the fourth match of the league and Quetta Gladiators put up a phenomenal performance. Naseem Shah’s fifer restricted the opposition to 113. Sarfaraz and his men completed the chasing task in 16 overs winning by eight wickets.

It is pertinent to note that Karachi Kings as well as the Quetta Gladiators suffered the ousters of key players this season. Muhammad Amir, Muhammad Ilyas and Imran Jr. were eliminated due to injuries. On the other hand star all-rounder, Shahid Afridi and Muhammad Nawaz also suffered injuries in the Quetta camps while Muhammad Hasnain became unavailable after his bowling action was deemed illegal.

Karachi Kings won their only game of the tournament in their last outing whereas Quetta Gladiators have lost two back-to-back games. Today’s game would be an interesting one.
