MI vs RR: No support for Rohit Sharma allowed inside stadium

In a recent development during the Rajasthan Royals vs Mumbai Indians match, fans were not allowed to carry banners supporting Rohit Sharma, the former captain of the Mumbai Indians team. This decision was taken by the security officials, who stopped those fans outside the stadium and forced them to dump the “Hitman” banners.

This incident comes in light of the fact that Hardik Pandya, who has been carrying the leadership responsibility for the Mumbai Indians team, has barely been getting any support from the fans lately. Sharma, who was leading Mumbai Indians and had won five franchise titles, was removed as captain ahead of IPL 2024 and Pandya was named captain.

Here is the video:

Notably, Pandya joined the Gujarat Titans franchise in 2022, which was added to the IPL roster in that year. After playing with them for two years as captain, he returned to his old IPL franchise, Mumbai Indians, ahead of the 2024 season. What adds fumes to the fire is that despite having a huge fan base, Rohit still has the support of the fans while Pandya is being booed.

It is pertinent to mention that there was also a development according to which anyone speaking against Pandya or booing him in the stadium would be expelled. Mumbai Indians are currently at the bottom of the table with three out of three defeats, and thanks to Pandya’s captaincy, the team is facing a lot of criticism from the fans. It remains to be seen how the team will fare in the upcoming matches and if Pandya can turn things around for them.
