Blood on your hands, Michael Slater slams Australian government; Read why

Michael Slater, the Australian broadcaster and cricket commentator, has slammed the Australian government for imposing travel bans for travelers from India. As Aussies have always been a crucial part of the Indian Premier League (IPL), they are the active participants for the 2021 edition as well.

The Australian Prime Minister, Scott Morrison has implemented a ‘no flight from India’ policy despite the rising COVID cases in India. According to the protocols, whoever will breach the policy, would be sentenced to 5 years. The threat includes all the Aussies who are in India at present involved in playing the IPL 2021.

Notably, the government has banned all flights from India and even from the diverted routes of the Middle East. The Aussies, as a consequence, are tucked in the cricket-loving nation with no way out.

The travel plans are now in jeopardy and can even drag them to pay hefty fines of 3 lacs 70 thousand pounds or prison. Not only sixteen cricketers but Ricky Ponting, Damien Wright, David Hussey, Brett Lee, and others who are part of the support staff, official members panel, are in problem.

His statement came in the light of Chris Lynn’s request to arrange chartered flights for the Australians busy playing IPL in India. As the players have traveled privately, Scott says no special arrangement has been made for them to bring back to their country.

Slamming the newly implemented protocols, Slater has shamed the government for not allowing the Australians to get back to their homes. He says the government should be responsible for not causing a disgrace to the citizens.

He said,

If our Government cared for the safety of Aussies they would allow us to get home. It’s a disgrace!! Blood on your hands PM. How dare you treat us like this. How about you sort out the quarantine system. I had government permission to work on the IPL but I now have government neglect
