Mickey Arthur has a 'serious advice' for England cricketers

  • Mickey Arthur, former head coach of the Pakistan cricket team, has arrived in Pakistan and is expected to be appointed as the team’s director.
  • Arthur previously led the team to victory in the 2017 ICC Champions Trophy but was not offered a contract renewal after the team’s fifth-place finish in the 2019 ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup.
  • The Pakistan Cricket Board is in talks with Arthur to appoint him as the head coach for upcoming tournaments, and Arthur has committed to joining the team for the ICC World Cup later this year while continuing to work for Derbyshire County Cricket Club.

Mickey Arthur, who is expected to be appointed as the Director of the Pakistan men’s cricket team, arrived in Pakistan on Tuesday. He will be staying with the team until April 20 before heading back to England, where he is currently the Head of Cricket at Derbyshire.

Mickey Arthur Likely to Be Appointed Director of Pakistan Men’s Cricket Team

Arthur previously served as the head coach of the Pakistan team for three years and led the team to victory in the ICC Champions Trophy in 2017. However, his contract was not renewed by the PCB following the team’s fifth-place finish in the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2019.

The PCB is in talks with Arthur to appoint him as the head coach for the upcoming ACC Asia Cup, ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023, ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024, and ICC Champions Trophy 2025. However, due to his long-term contract with Derbyshire, the PCB is also considering a proposal for him to act as a consultant on a time-sharing basis with the English county side.

Arthur has committed to joining the Pakistan team in India for the 50-over ICC World Cup later this year, but he will continue to work as a full-time coach for Derbyshire during the English domestic season.

In the meantime, Grant Bradburn has been named as the head coach of the Pakistan team for the ongoing limited-overs series against New Zealand. The PCB will announce the Pakistan team management for the post-New Zealand series after the recruitment process is completed.
