Pakistani skipper Babar Azam completed the 3000 T20I runs milestone during the sixth match of the ongoing Pakistan vs England T20I series. The batter has been coming across various splendid rec0rds, giving a sharp edge to former Indian captain Virat Kohli. Both Babar and Kohli now have plenty of records across various formats. This time, the green skipper has made sure to equal another VK’s record, becoming the fastest to 3000 T20I runs.

Although Azam recently has surpassed various records of the ex-skipper, but this time, the feat is equalled by two as the Pakistani captain is now joint-fastest to 3000 T20I runs. Both Babar and Kohli reached the 3000 T20I runs milestone in their 81st T20I inning. Let’s eye at some fun facts regarding the goats’ records:

Apart from completing 3000 T20I runs in 81 innings, both players smashed three sixes in their respective innings. Kohli, while reaching the feat in the second match of the five-match T20I series against England at home in 2021. Surprisingly, both players gained the landmark whilst playing at home.

At the time of achieving the record of 3000 T20I runs, Kohli was the skipper of the national team, and so is Babar. The Indian batter smashed 73 runs from 49 balls at a strike rate of 148.9, whereas Azam amassed 87 from 59 balls and also maintained a strike rate of 147.4. Both teams were playing against the same opponent when the two most delicate batters of the cricket world came to the feats.

Another thing to surprise is both of them stayed not out in the respective innings when they achieved the record of 3000 T20I runs. Both of them reached the 50s in the 14th and 15th overs, respectively. Also, England’s bowler Adil Rashid conceded 38 runs in both of the games; 2nd T20I vs India at Narendra Modi Stadium and 6th T20I versus Pakistan at Gadaffi Stadium.

To astonish you further, it must be mentioned that both teams were three down in Kohli’s and Babar’s 50s. Whereas the spinners of two sides, Shadab Khan and Yuzvendra Chahal, conceded 34 runs a piece alongside dismissing Dawid Malan on an LBW.
