Karachi Kings did the unpredictable last night by crushing the favourites Lahore Qalandars in an intense game despite a low target. The bruised and beaten Karachi team are out of the tournament and until yesterday they had only managed to bag embarrassment in the entire tournament by not winning a single match.  Game nine would have gone the same way but luck had something else in the plan.

In the rival’s home ground, amidst n electric crowd and in a very low scoring game, Karachi Kings managed to grab the most useless yet the most entertaining and a very much needed victory. And for all this, the franchise needs to thank Mir Hamza, the talent benched most of the season. The lone warrior that helped Kings achieve what they couldn’t in the previous eight games.

Phenomenal spells from Rashid Khan and Zaman Khan kept the Babar and his men from scoring runs and the team could only manage 149. In the second inning, the Karachi franchise put the opposition in a chokehold position from the start and Hamza had a crucial part to play. Fakhar, Shafique, Brookes, and Wiese all Lahore danger men were sent back by the 29-year-old.

The cricket fraternity is all praise for this talent who has been side-lined for so many reasons and so many matches. He wasn’t picked by any franchise initially and this was his third match in the tournament and he announced his presence in bold letters.

Fans laud the performance of Mir Hamza

Karachi Kings will their final game of the tournament against Quetta Gladiators on Sunday at 2:30 PM PST.
