Mohammad Abbas touches climax in first-class cricket

Pakistani pacer Mohammad Abbas has come across a notable feat in his first-class career as he went on to touch the 600-wicket landmark. He achieved the record on Saturday during the team’s match against Northern in Abbottabad.

Southern Punjab’s bowling delight has plucked five wickets during Northern’s first innings. His spell helped to restrict the opponents on 334/9 at the Stumps of Day 3. Overall, he has amassed 11 wickets so far from five innings (Including NOR’s 1st inning in SP vs NOR) at an economy of 2.71.

The best of him in the ongoing edition of the Quaid e Azam trophy also came in the current match as he has conceded 85 runs so far whilst picking five wickets, as mentioned above. Up till yet, he has delivered 26.4 overs in the SP vs NOR encounter.

His stats make him the third-best bowler of Southern Punjab after Sameen Gul and Mohammad Ilyas, who have 14 and 12 wickets to their names from five and seven innings, respectively.

Coming across the 600-wicket mark in first-class cricket has made him the 13th Pakistani pacer to do so. Notably, the SP vs NOR encounter has turned out to be Abbas’s 147th first-class game. In his career in the domain, he has 40 five-wicket hauls and 11 ten-wicket hauls.

Only six Pakistani fast bowlers, Imran Khan, Wasim Akram, Sarfaraz Nawaz, Waqar Younis, Yasir Arafat and Abdur Rauf, have more five-wicket hauls in first-class cricket than Mohammad Abbas.
