Multan Sultans will become the first-ever PSL team to retain their title if they thrash away the opponent in the PSL 7 grand finale on 27th February at Gadaffi Stadium. In the seven-year-old history of the extravaganza, none of the six teams have been able to retain their title.
Sultans, who won the last edition with big thrills, were induced in the Pakistan Super League back in 2018. Since they have been handed over to Mohammad Rizwan, each player looks in form and gives one hundred percent of his potential.
As far as Sultans’ performance in PSL 7 is concerned, they became the first team to click six consecutive wins. Rizwan and men kick-started their season’s journey with an opener victory versus Karachi Kings. Facing Lahore Qalandars in their seventh match, they faced kinda bad luck or by now, Sultans would have been the only undefeated team of the PSL 7 and the only one with the unique record throughout the years.
Islamabad United although have won PSL twice, which makes them the only team to have two trophies, but that was not in consecutive years.
Since, they are directed in the final after revenging Qalandars in the Qualifier round on Wednesday, Rizwan, as the lucky charm, is getting the most votes to win the encounter. If it happens, Sultans will become the only PSL team to defend their title successfully since they thrashed away Peshawar Zalmi in PSL 6 final.
Considering Qalandars’ scenario to be in the final, they are not eliminated yet and have one more chance to tackle the obstacles. The Eliminator 1 of the PSL 7 is set to take place between the third-placed Peshawar Zalmi and the fourth-ranked Islamabad United. The winners of this round will not be directly in the final but will have to face Qalandars in Eliminator 2 – the champions of this round will see dashing Sultans in the grand finale waiting to hunt their opponent to put a closure to the season.
