Najam Sethi says Ramiz Raja did no work for women’s cricket

Najam Sethi says Ramiz Raja did no work for women's cricket

New Zealand and Pakistan’s first test match is currently underway at National Bank Cricket Arena, and the commentators, cricket experts, and undoubtedly the recently appointed chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board are all making contentious claims that are deserving of headlines.

The recent chat between former cricketer Sikandar Bakht and chairman Najam Sethi during the game brought up difficulties with Pakistan Cricket, in Najam’s opinion.

He claimed that Pakistan Cricket appears to have batting and bowling deficiencies as well. But the guys in green have significantly improved their bowling, particularly the crew of pacers.

“We believed Pakistan had a batting problem, but Pakistan actually has a bowling problem in test cricket.”

Despite the fact that Ramiz Raja has been working hard for women’s cricket, including the establishment of a PSL-style T20 competitive event for them, Najam says that Raja and the company have done little for women’s cricket. Notably, the women’s squad also won the majority of its Asia Cup 2022 games under the previous leadership.

“The previous regime devoted no emphasis to women’s cricket, whereas I wanted to build six academies for Pakistani women cricketers.”

Commenting on the significance of foreign coaches, he implies that the age of Saqlain Mushtaq and Mohammad Yousuf is coming to an end. He stated,

“Foreign coaches will never take favours or friendships. They are very professional, which is why international coaches are successful in Pakistan cricket.”

The former chairman described Peshawar as a “red zone” for holding international cricket matches. However, Sethi and colleagues disagree with him and state,

“Peshawar is said to have a red line. For Peshawar, there should be no red line from PCB. We will play in Peshawar’s Arbab Niaz Stadium once the KP government gives us the go-ahead.”
He further said,

“The monopoly of Karachi and Lahore in Pakistan Cricket should be broken.”

Sikandar also made contentious statements against Ramiz and the man who selected him, Imran Khan.

“Imran Khan has destroyed Pakistan Cricket whereas Ramiz Raja made fun of Pakistani Cricket with his plans of drop-in pitches.”
